Born in Canada in 1976 to a British mother and a Turkish father, Erdem Moralioglu moved to London in 2000 to study fashion at the Royal College of Art. "But I sort of grew up over here," he says. "We had lots of family over here so we were always going back and forth."

•He admits to having doodled fashion images into the margins of his maths books, joking that: "I was never going to be a huge hit on the soccer field."
•Having graduated from Ryerson University, Toronto, he moved to London to study at the RCA.
•He then took up a place to work with Diane Von Furstenberg in New York for a year.
•In September 2005, he won the second Fashion Fringe competition.
•In 2006, Claudia Schiffer wore one of his dresses to the Baftas and Barneys creative director Julie Gilhart wore another to the Met Ball - having recently made the New York store Erdem's largest international stockist.
•Well known for his courteous nature and school boy good looks, he has dressed the most famous women in the world including Michelle Obama, Sarah Brown and Samantha Cameron as well some of•In 2010 he won the inaugural BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund award - a £200,000 prize, plus mentoring from the biggest names in the industry to grow his business into a major international player.
•Not interested in following trends as such, Erdem concentrates only on making women look beautiful. "I never think about what's sexy," he has said. "I don't agonise over whether her bum will look big in something. I focus on the silhouettes and the proportions and hope that takes care of everything."
